Business & Entrepreneur Immigration

Pathways for entrepreneurs, investors and business owners

Overview

Canada offers several routes for people who want to start, buy or expand a business here. The right one depends on your business plan, your investment, your management experience and the province where you intend to operate.

We assess your profile, compare the federal and provincial options open today, and prepare applications built around a credible, well-documented business case.

Entrepreneur Work Permits

LMIA-exempt work permits for entrepreneurs and self-employed owners whose business will bring significant economic benefit to Canada.

Transfers of executives, senior managers and specialized staff to a Canadian parent, branch, subsidiary or affiliate, including a new office in Canada.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Start-up Visa program still open?

No. IRCC stopped accepting new Start-up Visa applications at the end of 2025 and has announced a new pilot program for immigrant entrepreneurs. We advise on the routes that are open today.

Can I move to Canada while I work toward permanent residence?

In many cases, yes. An entrepreneur or intra-company transferee work permit can let you enter Canada and run the business while you work toward permanent residence.

Do I need to invest a minimum amount?

It depends on the program. Provincial entrepreneur streams set their own investment and net worth thresholds, and they differ from province to province.
